CPSC Helps LMH Foundation Exceed Radiothon Goal

For Immediate Release: November 23, 2023

Saturday, October 21st marked the 22nd Annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon, which raises funds in support of local hospitals in Southwestern Ontario.  This year’s campaign included 8 area hospital foundations, including the Louise Marshall Hospital (LMH) Foundation in Mount Forest.

This year, the LMH Foundation set one of their most ambitious goals to date, to raise $125,000 towards the purchase of an Ultrasound Echo Machine, which is an essential piece of equipment used in the Diagnostic Imaging Department to detect both heart failure and damage from a heart attack, and is also used to diagnose a host of cardiac-related conditions.

At the close of the Radiothon broadcast on October 21st, more than $106,000 towards the LMH Foundation’s goal was raised. Since then, this total has surpassed $167,000, with a remarkable donation of $25,000 from Cancer Patient Services Corporation (CPSC), to help the Foundation both meet and exceed their fundraising target. Amy Van Huss, Development Officer for the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation, said, “We are so grateful to our community for their extraordinary generosity, and to organizations like Cancer Patient Services Corporation for their continued support of Louise Marshall Hospital. It is only with this generosity and support that the hospital is able to offer such excellent health care close to home.”

“This is truly an incredible accomplishment for our catchment area, and every dollar raised through this campaign will be used in the purchase of the Ultrasound Echo Machine, which actually comes with a price tag of approximately $220,000.”  continued Van Huss.

Total funds raised this year, in support of all 8 hospital foundations, exceeds $600,000 to date, bringing the accumulated total of funds raised over the 22 years of Radiothon to more than $14.4 million.

The LMH Foundation’s Radiothon campaign will remain open through the end of the calendar year. Support towards this campaign may be made online at louisemarshallfoundation.ca, by phone at 519-323-2210 x.77711, or can be mailed, or delivered in person, to Louise Marshall Hospital at 630 Dublin St, Mount Forest.

CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon: A Brief History

Each fall, CKNX AM920 and local hospital foundations in southwestern Ontario team up to host a unique all-day fundraiser. Since its inception in 2002, the CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon has raised more than $13.8 million in support of local hospitals, and has helped to fund the essential equipment necessary to provide excellence in local health care.

The Mount Forest Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation is proud to have been a part of this remarkable fundraising initiative since the 1st Annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon took to the air in 2002. Over the past 21 years, our community here in Mount Forest and the surrounding area has, time and again, demonstrated their exceptional giving spirit, and together we have raised more than $2,258,504 in support of Louise Marshall Hospital through this annual campaign. This is only made possible through the extraordinary generosity of local residents, businesses and service organizations, and we could not be more grateful for your support. THANK YOU!
